Mobile phone has become one of the most essential gadget in our lives now. Th have replaced watches, calenders, cameras, landlines and what not. Recently i read that they have completely destroyed the business for watches. An international survey has found that our mobile phones are the gadget we would all least like to lose.

More than one third of respondents to the survey, carried out by market research firm IDC, said that they would choose their phone over their wallet or laptop if they had to leave the house for 24 hours and could take only one item. (wallet is important too…but mobile phone, we cant miss right). People are more keen to show their new cellphones to whomever they meet.
The survey also found that a growing number of us can be termed "hyperconnected" meaning we use seven devices or more (like mobile phones and laptops) at work and play, as well as nine applications or more like, for example, email or regularly visiting social networking sites like Facebook.
The survey found that the Chinese are the most hyperconnected, while Canada and the United Arab Emirates had the fewest number among the 17 countries covered in the survey.

It was pointed out in one of the Google event that it’s very important to understand the users before you make web and mobile applications. An application only becomes popular when it gives the user what he wants right at that time, whether it is a location to a bakery or direction to the airport.
Found this on one of the most important event of the season, Web 2.0 Expo in Moscone West on 22-25th April. This presentation highlighted the practical tools that allow you to add location capabilities to your website or app today.

It’s very important to show the right directions with greater clarity and preciseness. There are three rules of thumb in geo targeting a particular area. Offer the user everything you can, if you don’t have the information, degrade gracefully. Lastly always allow the user to change it. Beware of the profile of the user (whether web or mobile) and offer him accordingly. To start with determine the user’s position relative to known objects such as WiFi, GPS or cell tower. For mobile application you can use the location APIs such as iPhone Core Location API, Symbian S60 Location API and more. Looks interesting right?

We were hearing many rumours about the new HTC event which was expected to unviel its new HTC Touch Diamond. i was thinking of writing before on it but was waiting for the actual facts. So the rumours finally came true and beautiful HTC Touch diamond was unvieled. On reading the updates about the live blogging on HTC event…it was said that “HTC design language is moving to a new dimension.Beauty is not skin deep.Intorudcing …TouchFlo 3D. The phone looked thin and very comfortable.Innovation - overall form factor, size. Touch Diamond is the world’s most advanced phone in one of the smallest form factors.
“With HTC’s vibrant touch-responsive user interface, TouchFLO™ 3D, and ultra-fast HSDPA internet connectivity… the HTC Touch Diamond offers a rich online experience to rival a notebook computer, allowing you to interact with Google, YouTube, and Wikipedia as freely as you would with a broadband connection. Your contacts, favourite music, videos and photos are no longer an uninspired line of text. With TouchFLO 3D, album artwork, video stills and snapshots of your friends’ and family’s faces are brought to life for you to interact, play and launch at your fingertips.”
The hype for the event was great. Let’s see how much it sustains….? But am still wondering why are they calling it Diamond.

Apple is definitely taking over the world. Whether it is iPhone or a Mac Notebook. Found some nice post that present 7 reasons as to why apple will take over the world. The thing i like about them is their UI and copy that they use for promotion of their products,

*They are hip and know how to market their products. All those TV ads are being recreated and made fun of all over the web and on late night talk shows. This is a good thing, more exposure for them, one more reminder that Apple is “better” than Vista.
*They are consistently improving their OS. Although Vista was a little different, anyone who has seen a Mac knows that many things on Vista where derived from Mac’s OS Leopard. Vista is just not doing anything amazing.
*They have the iPod. Not too many teens and adults alike who enjoy technology don’t have an iPod. It is almost the standard, and the Zune is not going to be able to catch up….ever.
*Most of what they make is SMALL. These days it seems everyone likes smaller stuff. Cell phones, cars…people are even buying more and more miniature dogs rather than the Great Dane.
*They are breaking into every market possible. Apple TV? Yes it flopped big time on its first try however the second time around looks much more promising.
*Their products look good. Period. Macs are some of best looking Machines out there, and there is no question they have the best looking MP3 players. People like good looking things! No one wants that bulky Dell that is made up of cheap plastic. Titanium baby.
*More and more companies are switching to Mac. Although many huge software companies like Oracle or Ibm will probably never switch to Mac, it seems it is the cool thing to do for new start-ups and Web 2.0 companies alike. It is all about the image!
